How durable are your products?

The Arch Bag you see on our site is a durable investment. You’ll know as soon as you touch it.

The first prototype was commissioned to a small Italian atelier in the Florence leather district. In the six years we’ve used it so many people comment on it we hatched an audacious plan to bring it to you. 

Our goal was to never compromise the durability or quality of the bag in any way. To be honest, some days we thought this wouldn’t be possible. Cause, man, there were some hurdles! We had to work around many ‘no’s or that ‘can’t be done.’ Determined, we sourced the softest quality interior upholstery, made it our lining, imported the absolute smoothest sliding zippers from Spain, and held the line on skilled craftsmanship.  We didn’t compromise; we know you and your pup will notice.

How do I care for the genuine leather of my Arch bag?

Most people find the leather of their bag ages beautifully on its own.

If you’d like to give your bag some extra love every now and then here are the instructions:

Clean the leather by regularly wiping it down with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the leather. 

Second, Periodically moisturize the leather. (Be sure to test the conditioner on a small, inconspicuous area first to check for any adverse reactions). 

Lastly, store your Arch bag in a cool, dry place to protect it from excessive humidity and direct sunlight, which can cause the leather to fade or discolor.

Following these steps will help maintain the beauty and longevity of your Arch bag.

Can I fly with an Arch bag?

Not yet. Airlines require a carrier to be fully enclosed. We are working on an add-on product to make the Arch bag comply with this standard. Please check back!

How do I clean the Arch bag?

We’ve lined the Arch bag with uber-soft water-resistant fabric to give your pup the ultimate space to make their own. 

When the cushion requires cleaning, simply slip off the cover and gently hand wash it, then lay it out to dry. Other areas inside the bag can be vacuumed and spot-treated.

Will my dog fit in the Arch Bag?

The Truman Barkus Arch bag was designed for little dogs.

The dogs most suited weigh 10 pounds (4.5 kg) or less. Dogs that measure less than 12" from neck to tail and less than 10" neck to paw fit very nicely.

Breeds that enjoy our dog tote include Maltese, Yorkies, Chihuahua, micro and miniature Poodles, Chinese Crested, Micro Breeds, Papillon, Pomeranian, and Shih Tzu. But you know your pup best, so make sure to measure to ensure a good fit.

The item I want is sold out. What can I do?

We're sorry to hear that the item you want is sold out! Truman Barkus products are handmade in small batches to ensure the quality you seek.

You can sign up to receive notifications when the item is back in stock by returning to the product’s page and entering your email address.

Shipping and Delivery

Where do you ship?

Currently, the good ole USA! We’ll expand when supply can keep up with demand. Please check back!

What are your shipping rates?

Truman Barkus Arch bags ship ground advantage for $35. However, if you sign up here (link) you can receive free shipping on Truman Barkus products for life. 

Shipping from our other curated suppliers is calculated at checkout.

When will my order ship?

Our standard processing time is three business days. Once your order has been processed and shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking details. Please note that delivery times may vary depending on the shipping method chosen at checkout.

How do I change my address?

Orders go out quickly, but if you do need to update your shipping address, please email us at help@trumanbarkus.com, and we'll do everything we can to help.

Returns and Exchanges

What is your return policy?

We understand that sometimes things don't work out, and we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. 

If you are unsure about anything, email us first. We always welcome your questions and want you to become a lifelong customer.

That's why we offer a 14-day return policy for our products. If, for any reason, you're not happy with your purchase, you can return it for a full refund or exchange it for another item within 14 days of receiving it. 

As you’d expect, the item must be unused and with all tags and packaging intact. Our team will carefully inspect it upon return. If the item appears to have been used, we may need to apply a 25% restocking fee. But don't worry, we're confident that won't happen. Because dog people tend to be real honest folk. 🙂

I hope you understand that final sales and customized products cannot be returned. 

Refunds are issued to the original payment form and processed within 10 business days of receipt of returned merchandise. You will be refunded the purchase amount and any applicable sales tax. (Minus any restocking fees, if applicable)

We try to make the return process as hassle-free as possible and are committed to providing excellent customer service. Please reach out to us with your order number at help@trumanbarkus.com to start the return process.

How do I exchange an item?

We make exchanges easy and provide a real human to answer your questions. Email us within 14 days to let us know what you’d like to exchange (including the order number), and tell us what you would prefer to have.

From there, we’ll email you back with instructions.

Do you have a warranty on your Truman Barkus products?

Like Truman, our tiny pup, Truman Barkus, is small, but we care more than anything to please and delight you.

To be sure you’re happy, every material that makes it into our products is painstakingly studied and then selected for its durability.
