Our Motivation

I have always believed that daily life is better when shared beyond the threshold — when we step outside and move through the world together.

That belief became personal when Truman was injured as a young puppy. What should have been a simple walk resulted in a broken leg, and it changed how I thought about safety, structure, and how small companions navigate a large and unpredictable environment.

As I searched for a carrier that felt protective, intentional, and well-made, I found very little that met the standard I was looking for. Many options felt temporary or trend-driven. I wanted something lasting — something constructed with the same care and material integrity found in well-designed leather goods.

The Arch Bag emerged from that pursuit.

It was developed as a sculptural leather form designed to preserve structure, maintain visibility, and allow connection while moving through the city. Each piece is handcrafted in small batches using full-grain leather selected for durability and natural patina over time.

TRUMAN BARKUS is rooted in the belief that objects we carry daily should be thoughtfully made, structurally sound, and enduring.

This is a considered approach to companion travel — shaped by experience, guided by design.
